The race for the new 14th Congressional District seat that stretches from southwest Detroit through the Grosse Pointes and all the way to Pontiac is shaping up as the most competitive -- and expensive -- race in the state.
Two sitting members of Congress -- U.S. Reps. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Township and Hansen Clarke, D-Detroit -- are running for the seat. So are Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence and former state Rep. Mary Waters of Detroit.
